Düsseldorf-Benrath ice rink
The location for the new Düsseldorf-Benrath ice rink in the south of Düsseldorf at Kappeler Str. 107, which was built as a replacement for the over 40-year-old ice rink in Düsseldorf-Benrath, is conveniently situated with good public transport connections.
The modern ice rink for school and leisure sports has an ice surface of approx. 60 m x 30 m and a capacity of 199 standing room spectators and skaters, including seats for people with limited mobility.
The heat from the ice production process can be reused for heating and domestic hot water.
The ice rink has an "intelligent" energy concept, which has been extended to include a photovoltaic system on the roof. The electrical energy generated by the PV system can be used for the rink's own needs or those of the grid.
The seatbelt room was built with movable elements so that various types of competitions or events can be held. The spatial program is rounded off by a small restaurant. Areas of the access road were greened and roof areas were extensively and intensively landscaped.
The Benrath ice rink opened for the first ice season in September 2021. A parking lot with 54 parking spaces for cars and 4 parking spaces for buses has been in operation since August 2022.
Ice skating, discos, birthday parties, curling, ice skating and figure skating courses are offered here alongside ice hockey club sports during the ice skating season.
in 2024, storage space for the ice rink equipment was created at the side of the building, allowing sports and cultural events for up to 800 people to be organized during the ice-free period. A total of €19.7 million has been invested in the Düsseldorf-Benrath ice rink and the surrounding area over the years.
